'Superstar' Rajinikanth cast his vote at the Poes Garden polling booth amidst heavy police bandobast and urged everyone to do the same as Tamil Nadu goes into the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Although Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan or 'Ulaganayagan' as he is fondly called by fans is not contesting the elections this year, he was seen showing his inked finger after he cast his vote at a polling station in Alwarpet.
According to reports, Ajith Kumar was one of the first in the Tamil film fraternity to exercise his duty in Chennai and had flaunted his inked finger to election officers, the press and the paparazzi before exiting the polling station. Likewise, Dhanush too cast his vote at the St Francis Xavier School, followed by Sivakarthikeyan at the Good Shepherd School, while Vijay Sethupathi was seen bonding with other voters at Kilpauk. 'Good Bad Ugly': Ajith Kumar's reason for choosing Adhik Ravichandran as the film's director, producer Dhananjeyan opens up (EXCLUSIVE)
By Vivek Raj | Galatta | 11:34 AM
Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's next big film titled Good Bad Ugly was announced recently and will be coming out in theatres worldwide as a grand Pongal 2025 release. The upcoming film will be directed by filmmaker-actor Adhik Ravichandran, who hit the high note with Mark Antony (2023), which went on to become a massive commercial success minting more than 100 crores at the box office. With Ajith currently busy filming his upcoming film, VidaaMuyarchi, popular film producer G. Dhananjeyan Govind recently sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview to talk about what convinced the leading Tamil actor to board Adhik as the director of Good Bad Ugly, which rolls into production this June.
Speaking about Good Bad Ugly, producer Dhananjeyan explained, "As far as I know, he grew fond of Adhik Ravichandran during the shooting of Nerkonda Paarvai and that was the time when he told him about doing a film together and asked him to narrate a story. They have been discussing since then, but nothing was fixed because the producer wasn't finalized and they were waiting. If we like someone, we say that we can travel together. But, when we will travel, will be known only after waiting for a period of time. Ajith sir had then told Adhik to work on other projects. There is guarantee for a producer to step forward when Adhik gives a major success." He further stated, "Ajith sir had already decided before Mark Antony became a hit that he will collaborate with Adhik. But, a producer comes forward only after looking at the success of Mark Antony since it will give him an assurance that he's truly talented. Ajith sir then tells the producer that he's approved Adhik and asks whether he feels okay as a prospect to direct the film. So, it all comes down to all these factors falling in place at the right time."
Dhananjeyan also opened up on Good Bad Ugly being announced as a Pongal 2025 release and said, "The reason for such a movie is because Adhik is an efficient filmmaker and makes films quickly. The second aspect is that he completed Mark Antony amidst so many challenges. He's gotten the courage now after completing the film by taking on those challenges. Furthermore, Ajith sir has given dates to shoot continuously and has told that we'll start filming in June and it will be a non-stop shoot to complete the film in three months' time. So, when the film is completed by September, the film can come out for Pongal."

Vetri Duraisamy died after his car met with an accident and his vehicle fell into the Sutlej river in the Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh on February 4. Ajith, who paid his final respects to Vetri, had attended his wedding a few years back. According to reports, Vetri Duraisamy, who was traveling with his friends, met with an accident while en route to Spiti from Shimla, with his car then plunging into the river. The driver of the vehicle, Tenzin, was also found dead, while co-passenger, Gopinath, was rescued and is at present undergoing treatment at a hospital. Multiple teams were dispatched for the rescue operations, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) Uttarakhand, while the district police officials also joined along.
Vetri Duraisamy was found by a team of divers yesterday from the site of the accident nine days after the rescue operations began. His body was soon shifted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem. Vetri had directed a film titled Endravathu Oru Naal (2021), which had Vidharth and Remya Nambeesan in the lead roles. Several notable personalities from all walks of life have been paying their respects to Vetri Duraisamy, including actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who penned a heartfelt tribute on X earlier in the day writing, "The news of the death of Vetri Duraisamy, the son of former Chennai Mayor and friend 'Saidai' Duraisamy, is deeply saddening. It is an unimaginable grief that a young man, who was doing his work with dignity, met his end at a tender age in such an accident. I console the father who is suffering from the loss of his son with a heavy heart. He should recover from this soon."

Vijayakumar explains how Arun Vijay's career graph changed after 'Yennai Arindhaal', opens up on Ajith Kumar's big-hearted gesture - WATCH
By Vivek Raj | Galatta | 05:21 PM
Leading Tamil actor Arun Vijay's 2024 has kicked off on a bright note as his latest film, Mission: Chapter 1 – Achcham Enbadhu Illaiye, has received a superb response in theatres, with the number of shows and screen count getting increased in the second week. In light of Mission: Chapter 1's release, a fans festival event for Arun Vijay was recently organized by Galatta Media, which saw the popular star's family members also gracing the occasion among whom included his father Vijayakumar and sisters Kavitha and Sridevi.
Explaining how the entire family would be tensed each time Arun Vijay's film releases, Vijayakumar stated, "It's all about the expectations because making a film is no ordinary task. A film becomes a lesson. It has to include a good story, sentiment, fight, comedy, and all such aspects. I've done many characters, but films like Natpukkaga, Kizhakku Cheemayile, Nattamai, Cheran Pandian, and Bharathiraja's Anthimanthaarai are the ones that are well-remembered. Similarly, among Arun's films that I like the most are Jananam in which he acted superbly, and then there's Thadaiyara Thaakka, Thadam, and Yennai Arindhaal."
Elaborating on Yennai Arindhaal, Vijayakumar said, "In the film, the hero is 'Thala' Ajith, but he gave [Arun Vijay] a character, who was his equal, which is not something any hero usually does. Ajith sir told Gautham Menon, 'Sir, you do what you've already thought for Arun Vijay's character and don't compromise on anything just because I'm the hero.' No hero does that. And, 'Thala' did that wonderfully and it's not something that can be forgotten even today. So, after Yennai Arindhaal, his (Arun Vijay) range went up. Many films have since come out like Yaanai, Sinam, and now Mission: Chapter 1. When we watch the films, I hear the people of Tamil Nadu saying, 'We know, sir. Your son will rise to the top.' And, that makes me extremely happy."
