With the outbreak of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, theatres were shutdown over 8 months ago and though the Indian government has now given permission to reopen theatres, the Tamil Nadu government is yet to give the nod for the same. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the movies of their favourite stars and in recent times, the OTT platforms have come as a blessing as some movies have been releasing directly on them. One such most awaited direct-OTT release is Suriya's Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara! This movie, said to be based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, a pioneer in the field of aviation. This movie, jointly bankrolled by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment. Soorarai Pottru's makers had announced that this movie would release on the Amazon Prime OTT platform, on October 30th and Suriya's fans were eagerly waiting to watch the trailer, sometime this week! 

A couple of days running, there have been speculations that Soorarai Pottru's release could be delayed as the makers were yet to get an NOC from the Indian Air Force. Though nothing was confirmed officially till now, a tweet by Suriya has just confirmed the delay. Suriya has also posted a statement, mentioning the reasons behind the delay and has expressed his dismay at disappointing the eager fans, who had been waiting to watch the movie. Suriya has however also mentioned that the Soorarai Pottru team is working had to ensure that all issues are sorted out soon and the movie gets to release. However, he has not mentioned any specific date as to when the release would happen! As a consolation for the fans waiting to watch Soorarai Pottru, Suriya has also launched the 'Aagasam' song to show us all a glimpse into the world of Maara, the character played by him in the movie! He has also mentioned that the trailer and other positive updates would be arriving soon!

The letter mentions that as the movie is based on the aviation industry and as they dealth with real Indian Air Force aircrafts and security, the clearance of a NOCs were pending and they had to take this seriously as it is a matter of national security. Suriya mentioned the 'Aagasam' song as a 'Friendship Song' dedicated to "our friendship love, and affection." The short song portrays Maara's bond with his friends, family, as-well-as his fellow villagers. GV Prakash's music is really good and the visuals are very pleasing. Aparna Balamurali plays the female lead in Soorarai Pottru, which also stars a plethora of stars including Vivek Prasanna, Urvashi, Kaali Venkat, Karunas, Mohan Babu, Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal and a number of others! Sathish Suriya is handling the editing for this movie, which was cinematographed by Niketh Bommi.
