Popular television couple Prajin and Sandra Amy have garnered a huge fan following among Tamil audiences appearing in several notable shows and serials over the years. The duo recently took part in a special event organized by Galatta Media on the occasion of International Women's Day and opened up about the special bond she had with her late brother, while also sharing the tragic story behind how his girlfriend committed suicide the next day after coming to know about his passing. Appearing together with Prajin for the first time in an interview after 10 years at Galatta's 'Women Icons' celebrations, Sandra, who was shown a family picture with her brother's image said, "This is quite special actually. My elder brother taught me everything. He was matured at that age itself. When our parents separated, it was traumatic for me. I was struggling and couldn't come out it. We both were living with our father and he said he was going to marry someone else. I went and told my brother about how my father was planning to get married again. I asked him what will we do. My brother told me to give him an approval, but I refused. I didn't want anybody like that to come into our home. My brother then told me that if we didn't give our acknowledgment to my father, he would say many years later after we grew up that we ruined his life. I then said okay and he got married."
Sandra continued, "After that, there was a lot of struggle as there were many problems with our stepmother. My brother would then tell me that we should prove ourselves and rise to great heights/I didn't know that he had a lover. He never told me. After my brother's passing, she died the next day by hanging herself. I was extremely hurt. I was his own sister and our parents are there, but none of us thought about taking such a drastic step. After he died, she too went along with him. So, I've given my daughter her name. Her name is Asha Fathima and she used to be called Paathu. It gives me a lot of pain when I think about him because he's not with us now. Whenever there was an issue, he would be there the next second by my side."
Sandra and Prajin are parents to twins Mithra and Rudhra, and have also made appearances in films. While Sandra has made a name for herself in Tamil serials Roja Kootam and Thalayanai Pookal, Prajin was seen on shows like Kadhalikka Neramillai, Chinna Thambi, Anbudan Kushi, and Vaidhegi Kaathirundhaal to name a notable few.
