This latest reveal is now out after a collaboration between Lokesh Kanagaraj and Shruti Haasan was announced back in February, with fans initially speculating it to be coming out as a Valentine's Day treat. The makers had captioned their post at the time: "Inimel Delulu is the New Solulu #IdhuveyRelationship #IdhuveySituationship #IdhuveyDelusionship." (sic) The announcement of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Shruti Haasan joining hands got Tamil cinema fans instantly excited, with many theorizing whether it could be a new film, which was later confirmed to be an independent song.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is the man of the hour, has risen to the top of the league in quick time and in less than a decade after impressing audiences and critics in his directorial debut Maanagaram (2017). He subsequently hit the bullseye with Kaithi (2019) starring Karthi, which went on to become a major box office success. Lokesh then teamed up with 'Thalapathy' Vijay in Master (2021), which revived the Tamil film industry and theatres across Tamil Nadu after the Covid-19 lockdown. The director took yet another big leap joining hands with Kamal Haasan in Vikram (2022), which established the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) by connecting the events in the film with Kaithi. Lokesh once again reunited with Vijay and this time for Leo (2023), which has since gone on to become one of the biggest box office hits in Tamil cinema history. With a string of hits under his belt, the Leo director is set to team up next with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth for the tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, while there are also plans for Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, and a standalone venture with Suriya's character Rolex from Vikram to be made.
Shruti Haasan, who has garnered a big name as a singer over the years, made her international big screen debut last year in a psychological thriller film titled The Eye being directed by Emily Carlton and Daphne Schmon, which saw her share screen space with The Last Kingdom's Mark Rowley. She also played the female lead in Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire and will be reprising her role as Aadhya Krishnakanth in the sequel Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam. Shruti Haasan will next be collaborating with Downton Abbey's director Philip John for an Indo-British project titled Chennai Story; an adaptation of Timeri N Murari’s best-selling 2004 novel The Arrangements of Love, which initially had Samantha Ruth Prabhu headlining the film.
