Filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big comeback to filmmaking, Lal Salaam, is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on February 9. With the upcoming sports action drama film's promotions in full swing, the hit director on Monday evening, February 5, interacted with media persons and addressed a question that was posed to her father 'Superstar' Rajinikanth t the Chennai Airport last week. During the Lal Salaam audio launch, Aishwarya had said that her father was not a 'Sanghi', which led to a lot of chatter on social media, with some claiming that the statement was made as a promotional strategy. Rajinikanth later went on to deny that her statements at the audio launch ceremony were intended for promotional purposes.
Addressing the incident, Aishwarya Rajinikanth explained, "I've spoken a lot about my father. I feel there's no need to talk much about him now. Everyone is well aware about his dedication and work ethics. Since this is a crowd that isn't one that claps, I feel I should speak about this here. There's no necessity for me to speak for the sake of claps. What I'm saying now is the truth. Someone had asked my father when he was at the airport about what I spoke during the audio launch. He honestly didn't know what I going to talk about. It took him by surprise. He knows that I usually don't speak much and sat there listening under that belief. So, when they asked his opinion at the airport about what I said during the audio launch, he gave an explanation. And, I conveyed my thoughts on the day before itself."
Aishwarya further stated, "Someone asked him whether this was a strategy for Lal Salaam and was all pre-planned. I want to give a small explanation to that query. There's no need for a strategy through me or talk about politics or show him act in something he has no belief in to make a 'Superstar' film run. And, Jailer didn't address any political themes, but everyone is aware about how well it ran. So, I wanted to make it clear on this stage that he is a person who encourages me, my sister, and everyone to have their own opinions. It left me hurt that such a question was posed to him. Instead, I could have been asked that query and I would have answered."
Lal Salaam will see 'Superstar' Rajinikanth making a special appearance alongside Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth playing the lead roles, with the music composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman.
