Director Atlee has been on a long hiatus since the release of his 2019 Thalapathy Vijay starrer Bigil. Nearly 3 years later, he is all set to make his big Bollywood debut with none other than Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan. Titled 'Jawan', the film has released its teaser which is now forever embedded into our memory given its one-of-a-kind imagery of King Khan in a never-before-seen look. The film is an Anirudh musical and is scheduled to release on 2 June 2023.
With all that said, a new buzz has been going about that Deepika Padukone might be joining the team to deliver a special cameo appearance in the film. This is exciting news for all fans since three of the biggest stars are coming together for a film helmed by one of the brightest directors of the south. While Deepika was shooting for her film Project K in Hyderabad, SRK and Atlee approached the actress to discuss the dynamic of her character as well as possible shoot dates.
This first look of the film has gotten fans more than ecstatic and they are not able to wait to witness this collaboration. It was later announced that Lady Superstar Nayanthara too has joined the project to play the female lead in the film. This will be her second collaboration with the director after having previously worked in 2013's Raja Rani and Jawan will also mark her big Bollywood debut. Jawan also stars Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Rana Daggubati, and Sunil Grover.
Ever since Jawan was first announced, the excitement around the film has been going up by the second as it will be the return of Shah Rukh Khan back on screen after last being seen in 2018's Zero. Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan will also share the screen space again in Pathaan which also stars John Abraham. The duo have previously worked together in Om Shanti Om, Billu, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, and Zero.
