Gayathri Raguram is a well-known dance choreographer in Tamil Cinema. She has acted in many films since her debut in Charlie Chaplin alongside Prabhu Deva. The actress is known for her role in Whistle, Vai Raja Vai, etc. As an actress, she has also acted in multiple languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, etc. The actress has also choreographed many dance numbers for leading actors including 'Thalapathy' Vijay, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, STR, Shanthanu, Bharath, etc. She became popular after becoming a contestant in Bigg Boss Tamil season 1. The well-known dancer turned director and produced the film Yaadhumagi Nindraai. The film premiers on Zee 5 and the actress also played the lead in the film in the character Thamarai.
Gayathri Raguram recently gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Media. As the anchor asked, why she directed and produced the film. Gayathri Raguram said the film revolves around things that happen in the life of dancers, especially women dancers. “I wanted to make a film for them because they face many struggles. Everybody would say that they are just koothadigal (street dancers) and many people talk about them in a absurd way and comment about them. But, every lady has big story about why they chose that path to become a dancer. They would have taken up work for their family to provide economic stability for their family and they will not hesitate to wear revealing dresses, they don't mind if it's sunny, raining or even if they do not have footwear. Everybody is very judgemental and brand women dancers of cinema negatively and I know their stories as I travel with them and I wanted to show their struggle in a movie. Every dancer is a great hero as they are fighting for their family", said the dance choreographer
When asked who she would cast as the lead for her next films. Gayathri Raguram said, “I want to work with everyone but if asked to choose one I want to work with actor Vijay but there will not be any heroines in the film".
