Actor Asin responded to reports claiming that she and her husband Rahul Sharma are headed for a divorce. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 28, she informed that she is at present in the midst of enjoying her holidays with her husband while dismissing the false reports altogether as "very imaginative and utterly baseless news". Asin wrote, "In the middle of our summer holiday right now, literally sitting across each other enjoying our breakfast and came across some very imaginative and utterly baseless 'NEWS'. Reminds of the time we were sitting at home together with our families planning our wedding and we heard that we had broken up (😄) Seriously?! Pls do better. (Disappointed to have wasted 5mins of an otherwise wonderful holiday on this!) Have a great day you guys❤️(sic)".
The rumors of divorce between Asin and Rahul began after all their pictures together disappeared on her Instagram account, which also included her wedding photos. As of now, only one picture of them together is there on her social media page, which is a tribute to post iconic Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor from early 2020. The photo of Asin and Rahul Sharma is from their wedding reception, which saw Rishi Kapoor wish and bless the couple in person. The popular actress' last post on Instagram is from her daughter Arin's fifth birthday party dated October 2022.
Asin was introduced to Rahul by her Khiladi 786 co-star Akshay Kumar in 2012, with the Bollywood superstar also taking up the role of the Best Man at her Christian wedding back in 2016. After the wedding, Akshay interacted with the media and said, "Asin and Rahul are very private people. Everybody has respected their privacy. It was a very simple affair and today they are very happy and I am very happy that I played Cupid. I hope that they live like this forever." Asin became a South Indian sensation, especially garnering massive fame and popularity in Tamil cinema after her debut in M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi, which she followed up with an impressive performance in Ullam Ketkume. She landed roles in big star films in quick time like 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Dasavathaaram, 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Sivakasi, Pokkiri and Kaavalan, Ajith Kumar's Varalaru and Aalwar, Suriya's Ghajini and Vel, 'Chiyaan' Vikram's Majaa to name a notable few. Asin made her Bollywood debut in Aamir Khan's Ghajini in 2008, the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster of the same title under A. R. Murugadoss' direction, which she followed up with appearing in female lead roles in London Dreams, Ready, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan, Khiladi 786, with All Is Well in 2015 turning out to be her last major big screen appearance.
