It's now official - Aishwarya Arjun, daughter of 'Action King' Arjun Sarja, and Umapathy Ramaiah, son of acclaimed veteran Tamil actor Thambi Ramaiah, got engaged in Chennai in an intimate ceremony on Friday, October 27, in Chennai. The engagement took place in the presence of family members and close friends, with the couple now sharing the first pictures from the ceremony on social media. According to reports, Aishwarya and Umapathy have been in love for some time and their families also share a close bond as both Arjun and Thambi Ramaiah have been good friends for many years, having shared screen space in films Vathiyar (2006) and Moondru Per Moondru Kadal (2013).
While Umapathy Ramaiah looked dashing in a light pink sherwani suit, Aishwarya Arjun was at her gorgeous best in a baby pink saree, which she complemented with matching jewelry. Congratulatory messages are pouring in for the couple from all quarters of the Tamil film industry, with actress Chandini Tamilarasan extending her wishes writing, "Awwwww congratulations you too 😍😍😍 soooo happy for you guys", while Bigil fame Indraja Sankar commented, "Congratulations anna…❤️ welcome home anni…❤️". Likewise, the Indian badminton champion and Olympic medal winner P. V. Sindhu shared her wishes for the couple and wrote, "Congratulations ❤️", in the comments section.
Umapathy Ramaiah made his acting debut in the comedy film Adhagappattathu Magajanangalay (2017) while playing the lead role in Maniyaar Kudumbam (2018), Thirumanam (2019), and Thanne Vandi (2021). He also took part in the reality TV show, Survivor Tamil, in 2021, ending up in the top four. Umapathy is set to make his directorial with Raja Kili, which will have a story written by his father Thambi Ramaiah, who will also be seen in the film with Samuthirakani. Aishwarya Arjun, on the other hand, made her acting debut in the Vishal-starrer Pattathu Yaanai (2013), and the Kannada film Prema Baraha (2018), which was directed by her father Ajrun and was also released in Tamil under the title Sollividava.
