UGC gives out update on 2020-21 college session reopening!
The outbreak of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic has changed the world as we know it. Nothing is normal anymore and life as we know it, is a thing of the past. The everyday lives of people have changed and the entire India has been under a nation-wide lockdown for nearly 40 days now. However, the effects of the Corona Virus do not seem to be stopping and the number of lives lost to it are going up with each passing day. This deadly virus has affected most fields including education, industry, economy and what not. Colleges and schools have been shut down for long now and there is no surety as to when they might resume functioning. However, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has now come out with a few guidelines!
In a latest announcement, the UGC has given out the dates for reopening colleges, for the academic year 2020-21! Colleges can reopen for old students, from August 1st, 2020 and for freshers from September 1st, 2020! As for students who are yet to take their semester exams for the academic year 2019-20, they will be having their exams in the month of July, only where the Corona Virus situation has normalised enough. For doctorate students pursuing MPhil and PhD, an extension of 6 months has been given to complete their courses. All these are however subjective to the Corona Virus threat coming down and eventually completely being eradicated, in the coming days! Stay tuned for updates...
The Academic Session 2020-21 may commence from 01.8.2020 for old students and from 01.09.2020 for fresh students: University Grants Commission
