The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic has shaken the very roots of civilization across the world! The mortality rate for this virus has crossed 1.6 lakhs and the number of people affected is fast nearing the 26 lakhs mark. Various nations are racing against time to find a cure or a vaccine for this Virus, while the medical and healthcare professionals are struggling to keep the Pandemic in check and at the same time, treat the infected people! The frontline healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, paramedics and hospital workers are working selflessly and are putting their own lives at risk in the process of helping other people and a number of them have even been infected by the Virus and succumbed to it.

In such a scenario, the Tamil Nadu Government had earlier announced a compensation of Rs. 10 Lakhs for those healthcare workers who lost their life in the fight against the Corona Virus. However, now the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy has revised this compensation amount and made it Rs. 50 Lakhs! Though we sincerely wish that nobody loses their life to this deadly Virus anymore, this revision in the compensation amount would be most welcome to the families of those who are waging the battle against the Corona Virus, on the frontlines! The CM has also announced that the bodies of those who lose their lives for this cause would be cremated with appropriate honours and that they would be honoured with State Awards! EPS has also mentioned that two additional officers have been appointed to the Chennai Corporation to intensify the COVID-19 prevention work!
