COVID-19 positive pregnant Mumbai woman dodges checkposts using her mother's ID card!
The whole of India is on a nation-wide lockdown and movement between states has been stopped because of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. A latest report states that a 7-month pregnant woman has escaped from the COVID hotspot of Mumbai and crossed state borders to reach her hometown of KR Pet Taluka, in Mandya district of Karnataka! Reports state that the woman fled along with her family and travelled over 1000 kms to her hometown, by flashing her mother's ID card at the checkposts. It is also said that she got herself checked after reaching Mandya and was found to be positive for the COVID-19 Corona Virus.
The 20-year-old woman had been living with her in-laws in the Santa Cruz East area of Mumbai, which comes under the Agripada region. This region is also said to be a containment zone. The pregnant lady, her husband, brother-in-law, his wife, their children and another 19-year-old girl started from there on April 23rd and crossed checkposts at Belagavi, Huballi, Davanagere, Kadur, Arasikere, Channarayapatna and Shravanabelagola, before reaching their native on April 24th! She has stayed at her home in the village from April 24th to April 29th before the village administration conducted random tests on the villagers on May 1st. The test results returned on May 4th and the pregnant lady and the 19-year-old girl who travelled with them, said to be an Engineering student, tested positive. There have been 28 cases of COVID infected people in Mandya, of which 21 people are still being treated and 7 have recovered and been discharged!
