Shocking: 16 migrant workers killed by goods train in Aurangabad accident!
The nation-wide lockdown imposed by the Central Government to control the spread of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, is currently in its third phase. This sudden lockdown caused many people, mostly migrant workers, students and tourists, to get stranded in different places with no means of transport to return home. It is just now that the Government has taken initiatives to help these stranded migrant workers return home, with the help of the Railways Ministry. Meanwhile, many migrant workers have been taking to walking back to their hometowns and most of them have been facing some issues or the other. A recent shocking incident has now come to light. Some migrant workers have been killed when a goods train ran over them!
Migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh, who were working in the SRG Company, in Jalna, decided to return to their native places of Umarya and Shahdol by walk. Apparently, they were overcome by exhaustion during this journey and fell asleep on the railway track itself, between Badnapur and Karmad stations, in the Aurangabad region of Maharashtra! A goods train on the Aurangabad-Jalna line is said to have run over them, in the early hours of today morning, around 5:30 am! The loco pilot of the train is said to have tried his best to stop the train but had already hit the sleeping labourers by the time he realised their presence! 15 labourers died on the spot while the injured were rushed to the Aurangabad Civil Hospital. The death toll rose to 16 when another labourer succumbed to his injuries. The Ministry of Railways has ordered an inquiry into this incident. Stay tuned for updates...
