It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5752 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 508,511! Of these, 991 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 149,583! Kancheepuram has recorded 167 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 19,570, while 1,264 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 30,743 total cases of which 2,035 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 28,620 cases with 2,043 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 498 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 364 new cases and Thiruvallur has recorded 294 new cases!
There have been 53 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8434. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 149,583 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,912 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,436! There have been 5,799 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 453,165. There have been 80,123 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 5,968,209 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
