It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5519 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 491,571! Of these, 987 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 146,593! Kancheepuram has recorded 132 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 19,099, while 1,252 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 29,804 total cases of which 1,983 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 27,728 cases with 2,029 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 394 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 312 new cases and Salem has recorded 298 new cases!
There have been 77 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8231. The number of deaths per day has been remaining below 100 for some days now! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 146,593 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 47,918 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,879! There have been 6006 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 435,422. There have been 84,893 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 5,715,216 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
