It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,708 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 711,713! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day, Tamil Nadu has recorded less than 3,000 cases for the third consecutive day today, with the numbers continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 747 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 193,378! Kancheepuram has recorded 119 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 25,182, while 460 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 42,801 total cases of which 1,239 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 37,269 cases with 1,233 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 263 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 165 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 143 new cases!
There have been 32 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,956. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 193,378 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 29,268 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 8,856! There have been 4,014 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 671,489. There have been 72,236 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,589,743 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 70,898 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 9,328,347! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
