Oct 21 - TN COVID Update: 3,086 New Cases | 39 New Deaths | Total - 697,116 Cases & 10,780 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 3,086 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 697,116! After 99 days of continuously recording over 4,000 new cases each day, Tamil Nadu has been recording less than 4,000 cases for four consecutive days now with the numbers reducing steadily! Of these, 845 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 192,527! Kancheepuram has recorded 106 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 24,664, while 656 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 41,845 total cases of which 1,573 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 36,510 cases with 1,345 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 314 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 198 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 159 new cases!
There have been 39 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,780. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 192,527 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 35,480 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,425! There have been 4,301 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 650,856. There have been 81,782 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,193,849 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 80,348 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 8,939,331! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection. Today marks the lowest numbers in the last 103 days!
