It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,185 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 646,128! Of these, 1,288 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 179,424! Kancheepuram has recorded 147 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 23,246, while 867 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 38,807 total cases of which 2,481 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 34,388 cases with 1,621 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 397 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 347 new cases and Salem recorded 295 new cases!
There have been 68 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,120. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 179,424 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 44,197 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,446! There have been 5,357 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 591,811. There have been 97,087 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 8,141,534 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 95,301 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 7,906,698!
