Nov 19 - TN COVID Update: 1,707 New Cases | 19 New Deaths | Total - 764,989 Cases & 11,550 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,707 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 764,989! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, for the past few days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has gone below 500 for the first time in months, in these recent days! 471 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 210,601! Kancheepuram has recorded 98 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 27,051 and 505 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 46,418 total cases of which 895 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 40,037 cases with 725 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 149 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 138 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 119 new cases!
There have been 19 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,550. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 210,601 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 13,907 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 3,792! There have been 2,251 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 739,532. There have been 67,115 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 11,333,206 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 66,365 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 11,049,131! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
