Nov 17 - TN COVID Update: 1,652 New Cases | 18 New Deaths | Total - 761,568 Cases & 11,513 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,652 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 761,568! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, over the past few days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has gone below 500 for the first time in months! 492 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 209,646! Kancheepuram has recorded 76 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,899 and 479 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 46,146 total cases of which 914 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 39,797 cases with 733 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 170 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 112 new cases and Thiruvallur recorded 97 new cases!
There have been 18 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,513. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 209,646 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 15,085 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 4,822! There have been 2,314 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 734,970. There have been 62,415 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 11,199,077 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 61,644 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,916,522! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
