It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,112 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 752,521! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 3,000 cases for nearly 20 days now. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 565 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 207,173! Kancheepuram has recorded 97 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,553, while 543 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 45,403 total cases of which 855 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 39,337 cases with 989 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 190 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 148 new cases and Thiruvallur recorded 120 new cases!
There have been 25 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,440. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 207,173 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 18,395 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 5,648! There have been 2,347 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 722,686. There have been 77,356 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 10,863,921 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 76,574 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,585,460! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
