July 30 - TN COVID Update: 5864 New Cases | 97 New Deaths | Total - 239,978 Cases & 3838 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers have finally fallen below 6000 for the first time after seven days! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5864 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 239,978! Of these, 1175 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 98,767! Chengalpattu has recorded 354 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 14197, while 3471 of them are currently active! Thiruvallur has recorded 13481 total cases of which 3937 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 10838 cases with 2384 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 354 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 325 new cases and Coimbatore has recorded 303 new cases!
There have been 97 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 3838. The number of deaths per day has hit an all time high for Tamil Nadu! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 98,767 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 57,962 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,785! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days! There have been 5295 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 178,178. There have been 61,202 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,597,862 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
