July 24 - TN COVID Update: 6785 New Cases | 88 New Deaths | Total - 199,749 Cases & 3320 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers have overtaken yesterday's to give Tamil Nadu the biggest ever single day spike so far with the number of new cases crossing 6500 for the first time ever! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 6785 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 199,749! Of these, 1321 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 92,206! Madurai has recorded 326 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 9302, while 2661 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 11308 total cases of which 2866 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 11008 cases with 4124 of them being currently active. Virudhunagar alone has recorded 423 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 419 new cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 349 new cases!
There have been 88 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 3320. This equals the highest number of deaths reported in a single day! As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 92,206 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 53,132 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,743! The number of recoveries has seen a very good increase over the last few days and today marks the highest number of recoveries for a single day, so far! There have been 6504 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 143,297. There have been a record 65,150 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,223,019 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
