July 23 - TN COVID Update: 6472 New Cases | 88 New Deaths | Total - 192,964 Cases & 3232 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Tamil Nadu has seen the biggest ever single day spike so far with the number of new cases crossing 6000 for the first time ever! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 6472 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 192,964! Of these, 1336 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 90,900! Madurai has recorded 274 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 8984, while 2836 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 10888 total cases of which 2668 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 10627 cases with 3892 of them being currently active. Virudhunagar alone has recorded 480 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Tiruvallur registered 416 new cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 375 new cases!
There have been 88 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 2700. This is the highest number of deaths reported in a single day! As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 90,900 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 52,939 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,569! The number of recoveries has seen a very good increase over the last few days! There have been 5210 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 136,793. There have been a record 62,112 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,157,869 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
