July 21 - TN COVID Update: 4965 New Cases | 75 New Deaths | Total - 180,643 Cases & 2626 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 4965 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 180,643! Of these, 1241 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 88,476! Madurai has recorded 158 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 8517, while 3280 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 10289 total cases of which 2564 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 9774 cases with 3475 of them being currently active. Tiruvallur alone has recorded 366 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Virudhunagar registered 360 new cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 262 new cases!
There have been 75 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 2626. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 88,476 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 51,344 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 14,952! The number of recoveries has seen a good increase from yesterday but is still lesser than the number of new infections! There have been 4894 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 126,670. There have been 51,066 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,035,645 tests, which is the highest for any state in the country!
