Jan 26 - TN COVID Update: 523 New Cases | 05 New Deaths | Total - 835,803 Cases & 12,325 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 523 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 835,803! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 600 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 200 in these recent days! 168 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 230,522! Kancheepuram has recorded 19 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 29,190 and 137 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 51,336 total cases of which 380 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,444 cases with 220 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 48 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu has recorded 37 cases and Thiruvallur & Salem have recorded 24 new cases each!
There have been 05 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,325. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 230,522 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 4,736 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 1,616! There have been 595 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 818,742. There have been 55,815 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 15,752,119 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 55,617 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 15,441,642!
