Jan 25 - TN COVID Update: 540 New Cases | 04 New Deaths | Total - 835,280 Cases & 12,320 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 540 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 835,280! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 200 in these recent days! 157 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 230,346! Kancheepuram has recorded 18 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 29,179 and 140 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 51,295 total cases of which 391 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,426 cases with 223 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 56 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu has recorded 38 cases and Tiruppur has recorded 34 new cases!
There have been 04 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,320. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 230,346 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 4,813 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 1,634! There have been 627 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 818,147. There have been 55,919 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 15,696,304 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 55,710 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 15,386,025!
