It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 761 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 825,537! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 300 in these recent days! 218 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 227,575! Kancheepuram has recorded 21 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,926 and 235 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 50,515 total cases of which 418 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 42,995 cases with 342 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 69 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem has recorded 52 cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 46 new cases!
There have been 07 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,215. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 227,575 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 7,304 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,198! There have been 882 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 806,018. There have been 65,513 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 14,760,619 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 65,219 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 14,454,384! There are reports that the overall COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
