It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,312 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 791,552! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,500 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 400 in these recent days and is expected to go below 300 soon! 307 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 217,850! Kancheepuram has recorded 40 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 27,912 and 251 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 48,261 total cases of which 591 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 41,418 cases with 499 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 124 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 87 new cases and Salem recorded 72 new cases!
There have been 16 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,809. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 217,850 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 10,695 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 3,199! There have been 1,389 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 769,048. There have been 64,010 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 12,540,103 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 63,547 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 12,246,191! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
