July 13 - TN COVID Update: 4,328 New Cases | 66 New Deaths | Total - 1,42,798 Cases & 2,032 Deaths

Tamil Nadu government on Monday issued a new media bulletin in regard to combating the COVID-19 outbreak in the state. In their latest media bulletin, the government stated that 4,328 new positive COVID-19 infection cases were recorded on July 13 taking the total number of cases in the state to 1,42,798. The total number of active cases across the state as on today is 48,196.
There were 1,140 new coronavirus positive cases reported in Chennai taking the district's total to 78,573 cases. Although Chennai continues to remain the worst-affected district in Tamil Nadu, the city has seen a considerable decrease in the number of cases. On the contrary, Madurai has been witnessing a sharp increase with 464 new cases reported today taking the district's total 6,539 cases. At present, Chennai city alone has 16,601 active cases while Madurai is following suit with 3,803 active cases.
66 people died on Monday across Tamil Nadu due to COVID-19 taking the state's death toll up to 2,032 casualties. The state has now crossed 2,000 deaths and the government has once again appealed to the people to follow the precautionary measures in order to protect themselves from coronavirus. Meanwhile, the past 24 hours have shown a vast improvement in the number of people who have made a recovery with 3,035 patients getting discharged taking the total number of recoveries to 92,567.
The total number of samples tested across the state today are 44,560 while the overall count has been announced to be 16,54,008. The number of samples tested today incidentally is the highest for a single day to date in the state. Tamil Nadu also ranks number one in the number of samples tested so far. Likewise, the number of persons tested today are 43,548 with the total in the state going up to 15,85,782.
