It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steadily high over the past couple of days! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5709 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 349,654! Of these, 1182 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 119,059! Kancheepuram has recorded 249 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 14296, while 2789 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 21499 total cases of which 2741 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 20618 cases with 3959 of them being currently active. Thiruvallur alone has recorded 489 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 344 new cases and Theni has recorded 295 new cases!
There have been 121 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 6007. The number of deaths per day has now been consistently crossing 120 for a number of days! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 119,059 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 53,860 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,103! After being lesser than the number of new cases yesterday, the number of recoveries has gone over it, even though it is just by a small margin! There have been 5850 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 289,787. There have been 67,025 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,845,803 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
