Aug 15 - TN COVID Update: 5860 New Cases | 127 New Deaths | Total - 332,105 Cases & 5641 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steadily high for quite some time now! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5860 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 332,105! Of these, 1179 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 115,439! Kancheepuram has recorded 184 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 13593, while 2857 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 20456 total cases of which 3011 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 12651 cases with 1028 of them being currently active. Thiruvallur alone has recorded 422 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 376 new cases and Cuddalore has recorded 340 new cases!
There have been 127 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 5641. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for more than 10 days and today marks the highest for a single day! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 115,439 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 54,213 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,321! The number of recoveries has been dipping below the number of new infections! There have been 5236 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 272,251. There have been 71,343 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,640,796 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
