Aug 13 - TN COVID Update: 5835 New Cases | 119 New Deaths | Total - 320,355 Cases & 5397 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steadily high for quite some time now! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5835 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 320,355! Of these, 989 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 113,048! Kancheepuram has recorded 243 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 13085, while 2694 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 19640 total cases of which 2994 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 12505 cases with 1056 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 453 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 390 new cases and Coimbatore has recorded 289 new cases!
There have been 119 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 5397. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for about 10 days and it doesn't seem to be going down! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 113,048 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 53,499 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,868! The number of recoveries has been dipping below the number of new infections! There have been 5146 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 261,459. There have been 67,275 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,499,300 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
