With multiple projects in her hand, actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is quite busy shuffling between her film schedules and social welfare commitments.


To start off, Varalaxmi or Varu as she is called lovingly by her fans will be seen in the multi-starrer Mr. Chandramouli alongside 'Navarasa Nayagan' Karthik, Gautham Karthik and Regina Cassandra on April 27.


She’s also part of the upcoming crime thriller Echcharikkai – Idhu Manidhargal Nadamaadum Idam starring veteran actor Sathyaraj.


In addition, last week saw the announcement of the film Kanni Raasi where she is paired opposite actor Vemal.


Having said that, 2018 will also see Varalaxmi star in the biggie, Maari 2, starring Dhanush, who will be reprising his role from the original hit film in 2015.


Being produced under the Wunderbar Films banner, Maari 2 will see her share screen space opposite Sai Pallavi as one of the female leads under Balaji Mohan’s direction.


In the midst of this, Varalaxmi has begun filming her portions for Maari 2 starting today and the news was made known on her official Twitter page.

That being said, there have certain reports stating she will be playing a negative role in the film, which the actor soon went on to state was not something she has revealed yet. However, she did say her character in Maari 2 is indeed quite powerful.


It must be noted reports emerged a couple of weeks back stating Varalaxmi Sarathkumar would be appearing as the antagonist in another one of her films, Sandakozhi 2, opposite Vishal and Keerthy Suresh.


We know one thing now - Varalaxmi is intent on taking her star status to a whole new level.
