Yogi Babu's next film, Mandela is the next film in Tamil cinema to skip the theatrical release and opt for a direct TV / digital release. Mandela will first have its world television premiere on Vijay TV channel on April 4 (Sunday) at 9.30 AM in the morning. We can expect a lot of family audiences to watch the film in the comfort of their homes on the weekend. Post the television premiere, the film will have its digital release on the Netflix platform in the next few days. Mandela is produced by Sashikanth under the banner of Y Not Studios and it can be noted that he is the producer of Aelay and Jagame Thandhiram. Aelay, starring Samuthirakani, also had a similar kind of release, a few weeks before and it looks like Sashikanth has planned to repeat the same with Mandela.

Along with the announcement, the makers have officially released a new trailer which looks quite promising and funny. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the film's main premise and its conflicts and it promises to be a fun filled political satire. From what we see, Yogi Babu plays the character of Mandela, whose vote becomes the deciding factor of an election between two candidates in a local village. Both the candidates try to impress Mandela and pamper him with all sorts of facilities. However, in the end, he can vote for only person and who is he going to vote for? Debut director Madonne Ashwin seems to have got an interesting plot in hand and the trailer shows good promise. Mandela looks to be one of those comedy films that have strong content.

We usually see Yogi Babu in extroverted characters that are loud, but for a change, we see a subtler version in Mandela, and his characterization creates a good curiosity. The trailer of the film was released by director AR Murugadoss who wished the entire team a grand success. Madonne Ashwin is a popular filmmaker in the short film circuit and he will be looking forward to making an impressive debut in Tamil cinema. Director Balaji Mohan (of Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi and Maari fame) is the creative producer of Mandela.

The film has cinematography by Vidhu Ayyanna and music scored by Bharath Sankar. Apart from Yogi Babu, the film's star cast also includes Sangili Murugan, GM Sundar, Sheela Rajkumar, Kanna Ravi, and others.
