X-Men actor James McAvoy gives massive donation directly to UK doctors and nurses
Scottish actor James McAvoy is known world over for portraying the popular comic book character, Charles Xavier / Professor X, in the X-Men films starting with X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and last year's Dark Phoenix. James has now made a stupendous donation to the National Health Service, which is the publicly funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom, with a donation of £275,000 after staff from the NHS including doctors and nurses set up a crowdfunding page explaining how dangerously ill-equipped they were in protecting themselves in the fight against coronavirus.
When converted to Indian National Rupee, James McAvoy's financial assistance stands at around about over INR 25,653,612 and has come as a solace to the doctors and nurses, which now allows them to get 75,000 masks and 75,000 visors that will be ordered immediately. Initially aimed at raising only £200,000, the contributions have kept going upwards with over £1 million now donated from across the world.
The NHS staff had earlier explained that it is equivalent to "going to war without any armor and protection" while fighting coronavirus without any proper clothing. James McAvoy's efforts certainly have given relief to the doctors and nurses in the National Health Service, which is fighting day and night as with the rest of the world in the battle against the dreaded COVID-19 virus.
