In a turn of events, Kamal Haasan has reportedly decided to go ahead with the DTH premiere of his forthcoming flick Vishwaroopam. The DTH premiere is likely to take place 8 hours before the film's first show in theatres. This was confirmed by the veteran at a meeting with the producers and film chamber council on Wednesday. The ace actor has also roped in Airtel DTH for the simultaneous release and other operators are also liked to be roped in. There are also reports that the DTH operators have offered a whopping Rs. 50 crore for this path-breaking step.
Meanwhile this has not gone well with the Tamil Nadu theatres association and they are calling an emergency meeting today to discuss the issue. Earlier, the theatre owners threatened to boycott the film, if they go ahead with the DTH release plans.
The film is all set to hit screens on January 11, 2013.
