Vishal recently took part in a special event held at a college in Chennai ahead of the release of his upcoming film, Mark Antony. Joining co-star SJ Suryah, the leading Tamil actor-producer interacted with college students about the time travel science-fiction film, while also opening up about his role, and also addressing several queries regarding his personal and professional life. Among the questions that came his way, one college student asked Vishal's plans to join hands with 'Thalapathy' Vijay in politics since they have not worked in any films to date.

Addressing the fan's query, Vishal responded by saying, "Only God can determine that. Everybody here is already a politician. You too are a politician. You might have given Rs. 100 to someone unknowingly for food. According to me, politics is social service. It's not a business. Anyone who gives another person money to eat a wholesome full meal is a politician. That makes us politicians. We are doing social service. So, if God paves the path for me, let's see." It has been speculated for a while now that Vijay is laying the foundation for his political entry, especially after he honored Class 10 and Class 12 toppers across all 234 districts in Tamil Nadu, while recently launching the 'Thalapathy Vijay Payilagam' on late chief minister K. Kamaraj's birth anniversary, and also holding meetings consistently with the office-bearers of the All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam. Vishal has also often expressed his admiration for Vijay on several occasions, while also showing the first glimpse of the Mark Antony teaser to the Tamil superstar earlier this year, with photos of their meeting going on to take social media by storm.
On the work front, Vishal's Mark Antony directed by Adhik Ravichandran of Trisha Illana Nayanthara fame is scheduled for a Vinayagar Chathurthi release this September. The Ayogya actor is currently filming the tentatively titled Vishal 34, which marks his third-time reunion with blockbuster Tamil director Hari after their previous box office hits Thamirabharani (2007) and Poojai (2014). Vishal is also expected to begin shooting his directorial debut Thupparivaalan 2 and an official announcement is awaited soon.
