Leading Tamil actor-producer Vishal celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, August 29, by taking part in several welfare activities, which saw him providing food to the elderly and gifting gold rings to newborn babies. Addressing the press gathered at his birthday celebrations, the blockbuster star was queried about 'Thalapathy' Vijay, whom he has often expressed his admiration for, and the Tamil superstar's son Jason Sanjay, whose directorial debut was announced yesterday. Addressing the question of Vijay possibly entering politics, Vishal said, "Vijay is an actor whom I like a lot. I've seen his journey from my days at Loyola College. If he's standing strong after the criticism he faced during the early stages of his career to date, hats off to his willpower, which is like a guiding force for me. Many people told me that there are many Vijays in South India, but the only one I know is 'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay. I'll proudly say that I'm a Vijay fan. I've been watching his films first day first show both before and after I became an actor. So, if he's going to enter politics, I too as a voter on behalf of the people wish him all the best."

Speaking about Vijay's son Jason Sanjay making his directorial debut under the prestigious Lyca Productions banner, Vishal said, "He has brought out the person in me who wants to be a director. I too had a dream of becoming a director over the last 25 years. So, when I saw the announcement yesterday, Jason Sanjay inspired me to think that I too should get into direction since all the youngsters are becoming filmmakers. I wish him all the very best. God bless him."
On the work front, Vishal will be seen next in the highly-anticipated time-travel adventure film, Mark Antony, directed by Trisha Illana Nayanthara fame Adhik Ravichandran, which is scheduled for a release on September 15 ahead of the Vinayagar Chathurthi festivities. The Ayogya actor is currently filming the tentatively titled Vishal 34, which is his third-time collaboration with blockbuster director Hari after their previous box office hits Thamirabharani (2007) and Poojai (2014). Vishal is also expected to resume shooting his directorial debut Thupparivaalan 2 and an official announcement is awaited soon.
