Thalapathy Vijay's next film, Thalapathy 65 was officially launched this morning (March 31) and the launch event took place at Sun TV's Studio in Perungudi, Chennai. The pictures from the pooja event have been trending on social media since this morning and the fans have been delighted, seeing their favourite star after a long gap. Thalapathy 65 will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar who made his debut in Tamil cinema with Nayanthara's Kolamaavu Kokila. Nelson's second directorial is Doctor (starring Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Arul Mohan) and the film is due for release in May. Thalapathy 65 will be his third directorial venture and it is touted to be a stylish action entertainer.

Vijay's recent choice of filmmakers has surprised a lot of people and it is good to see him keep faith in younger and promising filmmakers and this has brought a fresher wave of commercial cinema in Tamil. Thalapathy 65 will be produced by Sun Pictures on a grand scale and it marks the company's 7th production venture. The film will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander who is the current sensational composer in the industry. The young and happening Pooja Hegde will be seen as the female lead and it marks her return to Tamil cinema after Mugamoodi. Pooja will be looking forward to a solid comeback with Thalapathy 65 and let us hope that things turn out well for her.

Through today's film launch event, we have gotten the official confirmation regarding the main crew and director Nelson seems to have retained the majority of his core technical team (except cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa), who have worked in his earlier movies. Art director drk Kiran took to his official Twitter page to thank director Nelson for giving him the opportunity to work on Thalapathy 65. Kiran's tweet read, "My next project with @actorvijay #Thalapathy65, thanks to my Vera Mari director @Nelsondilpkumar @sunpictures for this wonderful opportunity". Popular TikToker and Malayalam actress Aparna Das of Njan Prakashan (Fahadh Faasil starrer) fame will be seen playing an important role in the film.
