One of the busiest stars in Tamil cinema, Vijay Sethupathi has as many as a dozen films in hand in various stages of development among which the mass action entertainer, Sanga Thamizhan is being directed by Vijay Chander and is nearing its final stages if filming. A Vijaya Productions venture, there are a lot of expectations as the versatile actor will be seen in dual roles and was recently in the news when it was revealed that broadcasting giant Sun TV had acquired the satellite rights. Now, sources close to us have revealed that the upcoming film will be hitting screens on October 2 in light of the Ayudha Pooja holidays and will be clashing against Dhanush’s highly anticipated action drama, Asuran, which we had reported about a few days back. Furthmore, the film will be coming out a week after Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited rural entertainer, SK 16, releasing on September 27, under Pandiraj's direction thereby leading to a clash of these three ventures within a span of six days.
Sanga Thamizhan set fans talking after it was revealed that the film’s cast includes stars like Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Pethuraj as the female leads with Vijay Sethupathi’s daughter Shreeja too making her acting debut. The film's first look poster released a shile back featured Vijay Sethupathi in an up-close shot and went on to receive a huge response among the actor’s hardcore fans. Director Vijay Chander has roped in a skilled technical team featuring names like the Vivek-Mervin duo for the music, R. Velraj handling cinematography and Praveen K. L. taking care of editing.
Director Vijay Chander made his presence felt in Tamil cinema with his debut film, Vaalu, starring STR and Hansika and followed it up with the ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram and Tamanaah starrer, Sketch, early last year. Based on what has been planned for Sanga Thamizhan's release despite competition in the form of Sivakarthikeyan's SK 16 and Dhanush's Asuran, it seems the team are mighty confident about what they have in their hands with their film.
