Vijay Sethupathi's next release in Tamil will be Laabam which is directed by director SP Jhananathan who is known for his impactful movies like Iyarkai, Ee, Peraanmai, Purampokku, and more.

Laabam is a socio-political drama that is said to talk about the plight of farmers and the problems that they face due to commercialization. The film's trailer which released a few months before received a good reception from the film buffs. Laabam is expected to raise some strong and important questions about the problems faced by the farmers. Laabam features Shruti Haasan as the female lead and this is her next outing in Tamil cinema after Putham Pudhu Kaalai (Prime Video original). Apart from Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan, the film's star cast also includes the likes of Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhanshika, Kalaiyarasan, Ramesh Thilak, Prithivi Rajan, Daniel Annie Pope, Nithish Veera, and others.

The film's screenplay is penned by director N Kalyana Krishnan of Bhoologam fame. The latest update from Laabam is that the first single song is all set to be released tomorrow (February 17), at 6 PM. The first single is called 'Yaazha Yaazha' and it is crooned by Shruti Haasan. The song is penned by lyricist Yuga Bharathi. The promo for the single song has been released by the makers and it looks quite promising. The song also gives us a glimpse of Shruti Haasan's recording session.
