Vijay Antony's Pichaikkaran 2 is one of the most exciting films coming out this year and expectations have been huge ever since it was first announced in 2021. The sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, Pichaikkaran, the upcoming film is produced under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner and is being presented by Fatima Vijay Antony. Revealed to be coming out as a grand summer release, the composer turned actor has now announced that Pichaikkaran 2 will open in cinemas worldwide on April 14, with the satellite and digital rights acquired by Star Network. Sharing the release announcement poster, Vijay Antony wrote in the caption of his social media post: "Do you want to see a mass beggar from Dubai 👺 Visit theaters near you on April 14th💣".

Pichaikkaran 2 will be launched in theatres as a pan-Indian release and is also coming out under the title Bichagadu 2 in Telugu on April 14. Although Vijay Antony has informed the release date for the Tamil and Telugu versions, the plans for the film in Kannada titled Bhikshuka 2 and Bhikshakkaran 2 in Malayalam are yet to be revealed. Vijay Antony and team will be looking to hit the bulls-eye with the sequel after Pichaikkaran released in Telugu became a staggering box office success. The 2016 film surprised many with its edge-of-the-seat story and also included the emotional mother-son bond at its core, which won the hearts of the audiences.
Earlier, a sneak peek for Pichaikkaran 2 was released and hinted the story of the film to be set in Dubai. The release announcement has now confirmed that Vijay Antony's character will this time be appearing in the United Arab Emirates and it remains to be seen whether the story will unfold from where Pichaikkaran had left off. In addition, Vijay Antony is making his directorial debut with Pichaikkaran 2, which sees him as the story and screenwriter apart from serving as the editor. The film also stars Kavya Thapar as the female lead, while Dato Radha Ravi, Y G Mahendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Hareesh Peradi, John Vijay, Yogi Babu, among others will be seen in pivotal roles.
