Blockbuster Tamil film director Vignesh Shivan did the honors recently by becoming the first ever Tamil celebrity to take part in Galatta Media's new candid interview series, 'Game Changers', being hosted by National Award-winning Tamil actress Suhasini Maniratnam. During the interview, the filmmaker went on to speak about the impact of memes and how they have gotten harsh over time. Speaking about how the memes make him feel these days, Vignesh said, "It'll obviously be irritating. Sometimes, it gets disheartening when it becomes harsh because it's gone beyond a level today. If someone used to call us by touching our hand, we'd turn around. Then, they would call us by tapping our shoulder. Now, they're moving and pushing our body to get our attention and that's how it's with the memes as well. Earlier, if they posted something simple, we would react, but we've become numb to that. Then, it'll go to the next level and we'll learn not to react to that as well. Now, what's happening is, they're going much higher and it's getting very harsh. If we're putting our kids names, they're posting wrong comments and there's such a sick mindset among the people." 

Vignesh continues, "Just imagine, if a person posted his child's name on social media and someone spoke wrong things, how hurtful will that be for them? But, the person who types is also a human being... So, as human beings, how we react to something and how they get happiness by doing this, it's quite tough to understand that emotion. No matter how much we ignore, there are certain things which will cross our eyes and it'll be hurtful when that happens, but what else can we do? We have to go along with it. No matter how much they try to move us, we'll have to not look back."
