Viduthalai: Part 1, which is now out in streaming as a director's cut, includes additional footage of 16 minutes, with the runtime revealed to be 2 hours and 32 minutes. Upon being asked about the big differences between a director's cut and the deleted scenes released on YouTube, Vetri Maaran stated, "I don't know actually. But, I think I would like to call this an extended version. Not the director's cut. This is something that doesn't fit the theatrical frenzy or sometimes we might feel that this is the tempo the film needs to be watched in theatres. These are all our pre-conceived notions. Not that someone else asked us to change it or it is not that people will not watch it. But, the pressure we have, the limited time we have to decide to make choices, and among those, we will remove some scenes." He continued, "When you have them in the film, there's more layers and it is more complete, I feel. I've had that feeling with all my films - Vada Chennai, Asuran, Aadukalam. Not even Asuran, but Vada Chennai and Aadukalam, I really had some solid material that was left out. When we were doing this film, we had an option of bringing out an extended cut along with the theatrical version. So, I thought trying this out and that's what has happened."
