Most of us may not remember what young playback singer Vidhu Prathap had once said during an interview about the girl he would like to marry. "I want someone who would gel well with my family and if not a singer, she should at least be someone who appreciates music." Now his dream comes true!
Vidhu Prathap, widely acknowledged as the voice of actor Prithviraj in most of Prithviraj's songs, will marry Deepthi, a classical dancer and TV Anchor, on 20th August at Subramanian hall at the capital city. Vidhu has also arranged a reception at Thrissur Lulu centre on 23rd August.
Vidhu, who hails from Kaithamukku, Trivandrum, made his debut with Paadamudra in which he sang while he was studying in class IV. He won the "Voice of the Year" award in a music competition conducted by Asianet TV at age 17. Though Paadamudra was his first movie, his real break came with Devadasi (1999), in which he sang 'Pon Vasantham'. He became popular after singing a fast youthful song, 'Shukriya' in Niram (1999).
In 2002, Illayaraja introduced him to Tamil through Solla Marantha Kathai. Some of his recent hit songs include 'Changathi' (Notebook), 'Kasavinte' (July), 'Sundariye' (Pandayakozhi), 'Hello hello' (Hello), 'Mazhamani Mukile' (Kangaroo), 'Inale Mutathu' (S.M.S.) and 'Kolusal Konjum' (Malabar Wedding). He has bagged the Kerala State Best Male Playback Singer Award in 2001 for 'Kalame Kaikolluka nee' in Sayahnam.
