National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai: Part 1 released in March this year went on to become a phenomenal success both commercially and on the critical front. Starring Soori in his hero debut role, the period crime thriller film also starring 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi making a cameo appearance, with music composed by 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja, ended on a cliffhanger and giving audiences a lead into the sequel, Viduthalai: Part 2. With the first installment turning out to be a success, Soori has now for the first time dropped the first official update regarding Viduthalai: Part 2 saying the shooting is in progress, while also sharing a video of his transformation as constable Kumaresan.

According to reports, the shooting for Viduthalai: Part 2 is currently progressing in the forests of Sirumalai near Dindigul and Soori's latest update will no doubt come as a joy for fans as many on social media have been debating regarding the release plans of the upcoming sequel. This latest transformation video from the comedian-turned-hero shows him getting into his look as constable Kumaresan, who won the hearts of the masses with his innocence and good-hearted nature in the first film where he eventually rises to the occasion and captures the revolutionary Perumal played by Vijay Sethupathi. Although no release plans have been announced yet, the team will be looking to complete production and bring the film out in theatres towards the end of the year.
Being produced by Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment banner, Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai: Part 2 will see Soori and Vijay Sethupathi reprising their roles alongside a majority of the star cast from the first film among whom include Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chetan, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Tamizh, Saravana Subbiah, Munnar Ramesh, S. Chandran, Aryan, and several others. It is to be noted that actor Prakash Raj too had shot a few major portions and his character will be introduced in the sequel, which will pick up from where Viduthalai: Part 1 ended, and once again feature music by Ilaiyaraaja, whose 'Onnoda Nadandhaa' and 'Kaattumalli' in the first film went on to become chart-topping hits.
