The latest film of National award winning director Vetri Maaran, Viduthalai Part: 1, was released on March 31 and became a blockbuster hit. The film has the famous actor Soori as the lead and Bhavani Sre playing the female lead. The film also has talented directors Gautham Vasudev Menon and Rajiv Menon in important roles and has ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi playing the role of Vaathiyar. It is set to be dubbed and released in Telugu on April 16 and is to be released by Allu Aravind, father of Allu Arjun.
The cast of Viduthalai Part: 1 met the press and media ahead of the release of the Telugu version of the film, Viduthala: Part 1. As a reporter asked of he would do a film with Telugu actors. The director said he discussed with Allu Arjun for a role and “immediately after that I met Mahesh Babu and then after Asuran, post-lockdown, I met Jr. NTR and we are talking. so, it is bound to happen but I take some time to make films. It took a lot of time for me to finish a film and move on to the next. That is the problem.” When the reporter asked if the first film would be with Jr.NTR or Allu Arjun. The director said that time will have to tell. As the reporter asked if it could be a multi-starrer, he said “may be”.
The director Vetri Maaran also spoke about Viduthalai Part: 1 and said “I must thank Allu, sir, for believing this film will work across boundaries. Because, generally, my films are ethnocentric, especially this film, because we thought this is a very ethnically rooted film. But, Allu Aravind sir proved to me that the more ethnic, we go back in choosing the content, we want to make, the more global and international our films become” The director then went on to say how the film expanded from being a 4 crore film to a film 18 times bigger than that. He then also stated that he wanted Allu Aravind sir to see the film before release in theatres, but, Allu Aravind said he can only understand it with the audience and on the second day he called Vetri Maaran saying he watched the film and wanted to meet him about releasing it in Telugu. He ended his speech saying “I believed we make films, but for the audience to come and watch the film it has to spoken about. I wish you get connected with the film and I hope you say good words about the film and people will come and watch Viduthalai Part: 1”
