Veteran actress Gandhimathi passes away
Gandhimathi, who has played the role of the lead actors' mother or grandmother in numerous films and has been a part of many super hit movies like Mann Vaasanai, Muthu, 16 Vayathiniley, Karakattakaaran and many others passed away around 6.00 a.m. at her residence.
The veteran actress, suffering from severe illness, was being treated at a city hospital. However, sensing that nothing more could be done, the doctors advised that she be taken home.
Gandhimathi started her career doing comedy roles, but established herself as a character artiste in Bharathi Raaja's Mann Vasanai. Known for her expressive eyes, and intense portrayal of emotional scenes, Gandhimathi created quite a niche for herself in the industry. She has also acted in a number of TV serials.
