Venkat Prabhu, who has carved a niche for himself as one of the most successful commercial directors in Tamil cinema, will be looking to carry forward the same momentum with Manmatha Leelai after the stellar success of his Maanaadu with STR. The time-loop action thriller, which also starred S. J. Suryah, Y. G. Mahendran, S. A; Chandrasekhar, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Premgi, Karunakaran among others in pivotal roles, not only turned out to be a massive commercial success but also went on to be showered with critical praise. Venkat Prabhu, who is usually known for his multi-starrers like Chennai 600028 films, Saroja and Goa, while also delivering one of the biggest box office hits in actor Ajith Kumar's career in the form of Mankatha, will want to ace it once again with his Manmatha Leelai, which has been described to be a "fun quirky ride".
